The previous reviewer is totally misinformed... and misinforming you in the process. The density rating of memory foam is *directly* related to the weight. An 8lb density piece of foam will weigh 8lbs per cubic foot! A 4lb density piece of foam will weigh 4lbs per cubic foot! 8lb density foam toppers should weigh approximately 2x more than a 4lb density topper of the same size. You *do* need to do the math. You *do* need to weigh what you get. What the previous reviewer is referring to (although they got that wrong too) is the ILD rating. Higher ILD ratings directly correspond to the firmness of the topper. The ILD rating is going to tell you how hard or soft a material is. The 25% ILD rating is the number of pounds required to achieve a 25% compression of a 4" thick foam using a 50 square inch indentation.
I must admit, I was hesitant purchasing this mattress topper. I purchased one of the "best" mattress's about a year ago. Paying around 5k for both mattress and headboard and found myself sleeping horribly as this mattress was stiff as a board. I needed to find some comfort. This mattress topper did the trick. Not thick enough to make you sink but enough to contour your body, I am now sleeping much more comfortably. And of course, thanks to overstock, it arrived in no time. I read many of the reviews and there is a chemical smell but it dissipates within a week. I am very happy I purchased this item and would recommend it without a question.
About a year ago, i was looking to make our mattress more comfortable, so thinking thicker is better i purchased the 4" memory foam topper. BIG MISTAKE for us. While it certainly was soft, we sank deeply into it and found it difficult to turn over and it was hot to boot. BUT THAT WAS THEN. I gave away that 4inch topper and cautiously bought THIS 1" VENUS MEMORY FOAM TOPPER. THIS IS PERFECT! It adds just enough softness, yet gives support and it's allows for a cooler temperature.I recommend you spend the extra $$$ and get it right the first time.
I have been using memory foam toppers for years. Started with a 2.5 lb 3 inch, bad mistake. Next was a 3 lb 2 inch. Some better but dented fairly quickly and not enough support. Two years ago got a 4lb two inch and that too dented in about 1 year and started causing back problems. One thing with all of these was the transfer of movement, my wife gets up a lot during the night and would wake me up everytime. This time I decided to get the best I could and went with the Venus 8lb 1 inch. All I can say is that this is the real deal! I sleep thoughout the night IN THE SAME POSITION! I have never done that in my entire life (57 years) I was concerned that the 1 inch depth would not be enough but let me tell you that it is perfect. I am a side sleeper and feel absolutely no pressure on either my shoulder or hip and have no stiffness in the morning. If you are considering this topper against anything cheaper, don't be fooled by price. You definitely get what you pay for. BUY THIS ONE!!!!!!
I recently purchased this Venus Memory Foam 1 inch Topper. While this topper may seem pricey, you get what you pay for, and this product is well worth it.My husband and I are larger individuals. My husband weighs 265 lbs. We have purchased a memory foam topper before ( a 4 inch) and he SUNK IN so badly that he thought he would suffocate! This time, I tried a thinner topper with a higher density. The density is what will prevent you from sinking in too far. The Venus is remarkable. We now have the comfort of memory foam without the "sinking".Also, this topper DID NOT SMELL badly, as MOST of the other toppers do. I simply unwrapped it, placed it on the bed to "fluff", and we used it that same night.I searched and searched for "firmness and comfort". If you weigh over 200lbs and you want a stable, yet comfortable sleeping experience, this is the topper for you.I really hope this information will help someone make the best decision in memory foam for their personal body-type.
This topper turns into a concrete block when the rooms turns cold. Very comfortable! Please dont waste your money.
I received a ~4-pound memory foam topper; not 8-pound. The color was beige/off-white; not blue. Overstock was quick to give me a return-shipping label, and money refund. I had the opportunity to let them send me the "correct topper", but I didn't have the confidence that I wouldn't receive the same topper, so I declined. I'd be interested in knowing if others actually received the 8-pound topper. Mine weighed about 14 pounds. Return policy was excellent; but with their track record on this item warrants caution.
I’ve been sleeping on a feather bed mattress topper and was tired of getting up each morning having lower back pain and stiffness so badly that I could barely move. I decided to look into purchasing a memory foam topper and had been searching for one for months. I was quite skeptical about purchasing this one since it was only 1” thick thinking how much support and comfort could something only 1” thick provide. Reading some of the other reviews saying that the higher density was the way to go I decide to go ahead and make the purchase. So glad I did, I could not be happier with this topper!!! This topper is incredible!!! Gone are the back aches, pains, and stiffness. The only bad thing I have to say about this topper is that it has made me not want to get out of bed in the morning. Thank you Overstock for this great product!!!
At one time Overstock may have been shipping a lower density foam under the name of Venus based on some previous reviews. I received mine two weeks ago; this is clearly 8 lb or very near 8 lb density based on weight and imprint retention. I ordered the King topper at 1" and it weighed approx 27 lbs (+ OR - 1 or 2 LB; Bathroom scale accuracy) which is a correct weight for approx 3.3 cu. ft. of foam. I ordered the King even though I have a Twin XL; this way I can cut it in half and see if I need 1" or 2" on top of my Latex mattress. Not to get too far off topic; the combination of a firm latex mattress which I recently purchased from ***** which provides excellent support and wear characteristics with 1" of the Venus Memory Foam with it's exceptional pressure relief characteristics has given me the best mattress I have owned in my adult life. Highly recommended. Also, it is is a full size cut, so it will go clear to the edge of your mattress in all directions.
I changed from a quilted topper that got lumpy to this memory foam. I like a firm bed, but my husband's bed was a little too firm the quilted topper made it better for a while, but got a bit lumpy over a year's use. This topper is nice and uniform, doesn't smell funny, fits the bed perfectly and gives a nice level of cushion. It might be a little too dense for me, but my husband loves it.
I have an excellent but too-firm mattress. For several years, I've had a two-inch memory foam topper (from Costco). Over time, it became too soft (almost soggy, I'd say). I had a spare piece of one-inch that I tried instead, and that was better but was too hot. This one is perfect: good and firm, with the right amount of give, and doesn't run hot. It's more expensive than the other offerings here (about the same as the two-inch from Costco) but well worth it. I aired it out for five days. It continued to outgas after that, but isn't bothering me now. If you're sensitive to chemical odors, you might want to let it air out for a couple weeks before putting it on your bed, turning it in the middle of that period.
Excellent fitted sheet with REALLY DEEP POCKETS. Perfect for my modern mattress with an added memory foam topper. Holds the topper in place perfectly, stretches out without a wrinkle. Good feel, very soft. God's love and Blessings to all for Easter
To the individual that can't add...it should only weigh about 29 lbs. If you multiply the L x W and then divide by 12 and then multiply that by 8lbs. This equals 29 Lbs. THAT'S what it should weigh! So far so good and no complaints.
Do not buy this product. This is not 8 pound foam. I wish I had read the reviews prior to purchasing this product.
I'm pretty sure Venus is a deep salmon color. Aerus foam (which has a density of 4 pounds per sq/ft) is this shade of blue. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I just received my 1" Venus topper. I knew I was in trouble when the UPS box had a ship weight of 29lbs. A king 1" 8lb topper should be around 50 lbs. When I actually weighed the topper it was only 12 lbs. It is a very cheap piece of memory foam. Don't waste your time like I did. The positive reviews on this site are from people who don't know what real high quality memory foam is all about. The only good thing is that its so light the return shipping won't be too expensive.
this is not worth to buy. the firmness just like 4 llbs density topper so don't waste your money on this. compare to tempur-pedic this is nothings
I got this product within 7 days, it was rolled up in plastic but easy to remove, with this density, it didnt take much time to unravel, it was in my bed within one day. this product definitely has the support i needed, the other thicker toppers i bought were good but too mushy after sleeping on it a few months. so far i've had this for less than a month now and so far its holding up. This is a good quality topper so far, wish they made this one thicker (2 inches at least) but as far as comfort goes, i sleep well and it doesn't absorb too much heat. it disappates nicely. spend the money to get this, its worth it.. thanks overstock.
My husband and I bought our first Venus topper about 2 months ago to use on our queen size RV mattress. Both of us are heavy set and have trouble sleeping on soft mattresses. We were pleasantly surprised that this topper made our travel mattress about the same as our mattress at home that we spent thousands of dollars to purchase. It added very little height to the existing mattress and did not interfere with the slideout for the bedroom. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is thinking about memory foam. It breathes nicely. We have just purchased our 2nd topper to go on top of the first for some added luxury sleep. It is well worth the price for our comfort and health concerns.
I bought this to try to make a "better" Tempurpedic-type mattress. I had tried Tempurpedic and found it did not have enough support, but I thought maybe I could do better with a couple inches of Venus and a couple inches of Sensus foam. I had already used Sensus foam but it did not give me enough support so I bought this since it is said to give more support. What I now believe, despite what Tempurpedic salesmen may tell you, is that memory foam OF ANY TYPE does not provide proper support and will cause your back to hurt. Now, some may have very strong backs and may not notice the lack of support, but for most people this type of foam is only good for a thin soft layer on top of an already-supportive mattress. If you need a bit of a softer topper on your mattress, my recommendation is to buy 2 layers of 1" Sensus foam. Its cheaper and provides just as much "support" as Venus so Venus is just an overpriced substitute. The reason to buy 2 x 1" layers of Sensus instead of 1 x 2" layer is because this way you can adjust it, if 2" is too soft, you can back off and use only 1", and vice versa.
