  • good but not what expected

These towels are a good size. I was disappointed in them because the photo makes them appear velour-like, which they are not. They are just terry. The color is nothing like the photo. I ordered teal and what arrived is a dowdly blue-green. In this price range, I expected more from the product.

  • Comfy and cozy

I love big fluffy bath sheets. These towels are soft and the color is beautiful. The price is great. I'm hope they will hold up well after laundering. So far, so good.

My son wanted towels the size of his truck hood to dry off with. These weren't QUITE that big but they made him happy.

  • Not as absorbent as I hoped

I bought these towels to replace some 100% Egyptian cotton towels which have seen their day. I read all the reviews and thought these might be the ones. The size is generous; they are soft and the colors are good and true to the colors on line; I bought the gray and the beige colors. We like a towel that is 100% cotton so that it actually absorbs the water as you are drying off instead of just moving it around. I did my research and understood Supima cotton to be the American version of Egyptian cotton but are disappointed. We spent a lot of money and just aren't quite as happy with them as I was hoping. My husband thinks they are getting more absorbent with washing in hot water but my jury is still out.

I think these towels are not completely 100% cotton. My research seems to think Supima and Egyptian cotton are comparable but either this is not the case or these towels are not 100% cotton susieth on Nov 7, 2013

In response to last poster: The towels are surely 100% cotton. Cotton can vary in quality however. The description states the loops are 100% Supima cotton. They make no claims about the type of cotton used in the rest of the towel, presumably not Supima or the loop distinction would not have been made. Supima and Egyptian cotton are considered the two cottons that are superior, with some having preferences for one over the other (and others like me would never notice the difference). Supima cotton refers to cotton originally grown by Pima Indians in AZ. It's still grown in the southwestern US, and mostly exported to be spun into cloth. Superior refers to the textile process, IIRC, hence Su-Pima. Pima cotton is also grown in S. America, and then it's called just Pima cotton. Egyptian cotton only means the cotton was grown in Egypt. It could be any quality but most often specifies their high quality cotton. For cotton, the length of the staple that is obtained when spun into cloth is perhaps the most important factor for softness, strength, and durability. Textile mills in Asian countries have shut down US textile mills and now import much of the world's country raw cotton. The finest mills though, used by top fashion designers, are reputed to be in Switzerland (using Egyptian cotton). An equally important question for towels is the GSM, or grams/sq, meter, which refers to the weight of the cloth used, i.e. whether the towel is thick or thin. If it's a heavy towel, the GSM will be advertised in the description. This towel doesn't say what its GSM is, hence my guess is that it's 600-650 GSM, a medium weight towel. And that is all and more one might want to know about cotton. dunwawry on Dec 13, 2013
