I received these the other day & just got around to washing them today. They washed up just beautifully, as I expected. Let me explain "why" I expected this even though this is my very first purchase of these sheets.... I purchased "Beech" sheets @ Bed Bath & Beyond and I was EXTREMELY IN LOVE!!!! with these sheets, however, after approximately a years worth of weekly washing they started to shred ;( I will assume some blame in this as you're not supposed to wash them with harsh detergent or color safe bleach and I did. So, I went back to BB&B to repurchase and learned they were gone/clearance (in sizes or colors I didn't want). Found these on Overstock with Beech in the name so I took a chance and they're just like them - Awesome!
I've been buying plain modal fabric bedding for years, my first set was from B.B.B. I had bought the plain modal and jersey knit modal. Although very soft, I found the knit version too "clingy". I had never seen sateen modal and decided to try it. For me, it is pure sensuous luxury. If you sleep in your birthday suit, you will love the feeling against your skin. I wish it was easy to find clothing in modal, especially underwear. It really is soft, whether regular plain modal, knit or sateen, it feels wonderful against your skin and breathable.
I have to say that these reviews must all be fake and paid for because there's no WAY any person that's ever owned Modal sheets (for over 11 years, as one reviewer wrote) would EVER say anything good about these sheets. First of all, they're made in China. Mediocre cotton sheets don't even come from China. The tag says 100% Modal, yet they are NOTHING like either of my two other sets of Modal sheets, which are both made in Turkey. These sheets felt like basic low-thread count cotton sheets, not nearly worth 90 bucks. And again, do not feel anything like Modal. I'm definitely returning these and didnt even bother putting them on my bed. AND the sheets were literally STUFFED into the package. I have never received sheets like this in my entire life, they looked like they had been removed from the package, completely unfolded and then stuffed back in by a child, no joke! Just wadded up and crammed into the packaging, it was ridiculous. But hey, Overstock got 'em here somewhat quickly and i still love shopping here, but these sheets.... no way. They're not Modal, or at least the Modal I'M used to. Buy at your own risk.
My sister-in-law found modal sheets a few years ago and loves them. They are also on her guest-room bed and when I visit I love slipping into bed; so comfortable and soft! So, when it was time for me to buy new sheets I went looking for this great fabric. Directions say to wash before using but they felt so soft and silky I was tempted to go ahead and use them without washing first. But I followed directions and recommend you do, too. After washing they are even more soft and silky! Love 'em!
