Like other reviewers, I thought that there was no way this thing would go UNDER the mattress as shown in the picture but I tried it since I hadn't put the mattress on the bed yet and it works great! The weight of the mattress doesn't compress it as you'd think. I love this thing.
It's hard to find an elevated crib mattress. So i cut this down to size, covered it with his regular crib sheet and it worked perfectly. With an acid reflux baby, you have to keep them elevated and for some unknown reason (there are SOOO many babies with this issue) they don't make a crib size mattress to accomodate this. He's a year old now and acid reflux is gone, but we still use this because it makes his toddler bed so much more comfortable and is expecially great when he gets a cold and has a stuff nose. Would recommend this product for anyone looking to help wiht this issue.
I was disappointed when I received this topper, it does not look like the one in the item description on the website. It is a different brand name & it is not corrugated as pictured and is in no way anything more than just an elevated foam topper. I believe the description & photos are deceiving. The original one sent had a piece gouged out of it, I contacted Overstock to let them know that it was not as described before I sent if back. They sent me another one, identical to the first, so beware, you will not receive what is pictured. I use it on top of my mattress, it is sticky to the touch and covering it with a sheet is a must. I kept the second one due to necessity, I needed something in a hurry and its working okay for what I need for now.
This is pretty much a wedge shaped version of a standard memory foam mattress topper. From the description I was expecting something more... more density, more design innovation, more something. The box arrived and I unpacked the mattress, which is tightly compressed and wrapped into a plastic wrap (the size of an average sleeping bag) for shipping. It took 3 or 4 days to decompress to usable form, all of which is fine. But that fact that the mattress topper could be compressed to such a compact size concerned me, since it immediately caused me to wonder how much it would compress during sleep, and over the period of daily use. In general, the material seems resilient and able to return to original dimensions each day. However, there does seem to be a slight change in the shape (in the middle of the "pillow" area) where one naturally tends to spend most of their time while sleeping. This presents a problem since I'm trying to avoid sleeping on my back, and when the middle area is lower than the outside areas of the mattress, it tends to cause one to roll onto one's back during sleep. It still works to elevate my head and upper body a few inches even while compressed, so that's an improvement over no elevation at all. I wish the design incorporated some integrated feature to make the middle area more compression resistant (higher density material) in order to maintain a more contour across the width of the mattress. Bottom line: It does what it says, but it may not make as much of a difference as you're hoping in terms of helping avoid common sleep issues, esp. sleeping on your back.
Recently diagnosed with LPR reflux I read more about it online. Raising the head of the bed 5-6 inches was a consistent recommendation. I came o overstock, found these and ordered the. They arrived quickly and I immediately put them on the bed. Last night was he first night I did not have burning in weeks! I woke up in the middle of the night surprised to feel no reflux!,
