First, I want to thank the reviewers who complained about how wrinkled these pillowcases get; this is what convinced me to try them. People, you do not want wrinkle-free organic cotton. What is the point of organic cotton if you get toxic poisonous chemical finishes on the material in order to prevent wrinkles??? That being said, these are standard quality pillowcases, not high-end. However, they are a good value and I bought several sets because our pillowcases always wear out way before our sheets do since I change and launder pillowcases more often than the sheets. Also, I like to double-up on the pillowcases to protect the expensive organic pillows. Finally, these came out of the package with NO bad/chemical smell; sometimes you order organic cotton and when you open the package it smells like a chemical factory exploded in there (I return such items right away); there is no such problem with these pillocases and they washed very well.
Like the color (we bought the green). The feel of these sheets are very soft and comfortable. The only problem is that they tend to stretch the longer they are on the bed and get baggy. Maybe we need to change our sheets more frequently ;-)
The reviews were generally good for this item, yet can't help wondering why. For decades India has produced a cotton that is thin and you can almost count the threads with the naked eye. These pillowcases fit that desciption. Not only is the material poor quality, but the careless manner in which they are sewn together makes them additionally disappointing. Color was gray more than blue, very shiny material, if you like that, which I don't. I don't like heavy material, but fabric that reflexs the weight and quality of childhood memories. These, I thought, at 300 count, would be about right, but they are very thin and have no body at all. I can't say enough against them. Unfortunately, with shipping to and from...I end up paying way too much for receiving nothing. Bah, hum bug!
These pillowcases are very soft but the type of softness seems different from some of my other bed linens. Kind of reminds me of a favorite cotton shirt that has been worn and laundered many times. The downside (in my mind and hence the 4 stars) is that they are not permanent press so they look a little wrinkly and not smooth even after immediately taking them out of the dryer. I have probably washed these a half-dozen times already and they seem to be holding up very well. These are definitely great for the pillows that are really used for sleeping.
