I got these based upon the reviews, but after washing cold as instructed and low heat in dryer, I felt they were not as smooth as I expected. In fact, my first thought was they were kind of rough/scratchy... but they have softened up after on the bed. I'm using them as they are not bad, but I wouldn't get them again or tell anyone to get them.
When I opened these sheets, they had a very strong, awful chemical odor that made my hands itch just taking them out of the package. So I washed them and put them on the bed; the first night, they were fine; the next, the smell came back and in the morning my skin was irritated and even tingly. I washed them twice again -- once with vinegar (saw that tip online); let them soak then washed them with lots of detergent a second time. They came out smelling like my fabric softener and I put them back on the bed. No chemical odor or irritation and they were very pleasant to sleep on. However, the next night, I detected a slight chemical odor again. Thinking I was being over-sensitive about it, I slept on them but the next morning the chemical smell was back and stronger and again, my skin was irritated and tingly. At this point, I will probably be returning them, but am upset as I was very pleased with the pattern, color and feel of these sheets. I just can't take this returning odor and am afraid because of the skin irritation issue.
I have owned these (in blue) for about 1 year. They are fading and piling after regular use. They were pretty when new, but have not held up as well as I had hoped. Not terrible, but not extraordinary either. Would be good for a guest bed. They are soft.
These fit my California King water bed, so I was pleased....they are very soft, though wrinkle a little in the dryer. The only real issue was that one sheet on EACH SET washed out to look much different than the other sheet in the set....All in all I guess I am not to picky, because I would buy them again. Especially for the cost..
I've had these sheets only three weeks. Colors are better than I thought which means I like them very much. The sheets have been washed before going on the bed. Colors have not faded, no odors and so far, no problems. Very happy with this product and may buy more colors of this sheet set.
I recently purchase the black set of the Avron Cotton sheets. The pattern is not quite the same as the image presents but it is however a great looking set of sheets. The black pattern and the grey contrast beautifully. They have washed well, however they do have a rather odd smell to them. Very subtle but none the less odd smelling. I do hope this will become less apparent after a few washes. I noted the same smell with another sheet set I purchased from OS. The pillow cases like most bedlinen sets I have purchased from OS are huge.
When I first got these sheets I was delighted. They are soft and seemed very comfortable. But yesterday I noticed the seam on one of the pillowcases is coming apart and its not repairable. I can resew the seam but must sew more of the material in order to sew up the rip. There is no material left in the seam to sew as it has frayed . I am so unhappy over this as I had ordered two sets of sheets. Don't know if I can return the unused set or not.
I don't see why more companies don't make pretty printed sheets. I was glad to find these at overstock. I put them on the guest bed last week and my guest had no complaints. They survived the first launder quite well. The blue is just as the photo represents them, and it's very pretty. I didn't give them five stars because they aren't luxurious super-quality $400 sheets, but they are certainly fine for the price. Don't be afraid to buy them.
I've been engaged in the endless search for simple percale or supima cotton sheets that don't pill up the moment you use them. I hate the new synthetics and blends. I don't care about wrinkles. I'm just dying for soft, simple cotton sheets. I think I may have found them, but the jury's still out. As I wash these, they seem to be getting softer. We have just one set that is perfectly and wonderfully soft. That's a set that came from India, of all places. They are soft to the touch and very durable and cut very generously. But, I get sick of using the same ones all the time. Our master bedroom color scheme is mainly corals (orangey red). So, the peachy color they offered in these sheets is nice in the room, although not the bright deep coral I'm always searchiing for. Although they aren't cut anywhere as generously as my favorite ones, which makes them harder to put on the bed.
