There are a lot of reviews of this, so I will start with a point that no one has yet made. Please take a moment to consider, and even look up the abusive treatment of geese to produce those luxurious down comforters everyone is so hooked on. I dare you to watch a video of it. Now think for a moment of sheep that are made more comfortable through annual shearing--their parasites controlled, the mats removed for the hot summer months. The ancient tradition of using goose down wasn't even similar to the travesty we practice today. I have pet geese, and I won't participate in this cruelty any more, though I've owned countless goose down comforters and pillows over the years in my ignorance. You may be a vegetarian, and I applaud you for it. I am not. I believe in humane use of farm animals. Commercial use in this country is not humane. Now on to the comforter! I wanted to sleep under it in warm weather before reviewing, but then thought I might be waiting a bit, since we live in the mountains and experience cool nights year-round. It is far more cozy and comfy than down. It stays put, looks neat, etc. Don't let the "lack of loft" fool you! It is lightweight and feels much like down--only better. You will love it. I am positive.
For the last 2 years, I have been researching different comforters but because of already having enough blankets on my bed, I decided against buying one until now...and I'm glad I waited, because I made the right choice! I have slept under various down comforters all which I have really loved, they have varied from minimal fill 250 to a higher fill of 700. Only the high, high fill down comforters have been enough for me to sleep under alone (I run cold) and so I was nervous about buying one with a fill of only 600. Additionally, there were the issues about losing down, uneven down distribution, potential allergies, and cost. When I found this wool filled comforter, I read all the reviews and also did outside research about wool. Everything says wool makes for a great comforter and it keeps you very WARM! In addition, the wool will never leak outside of the comforter, it's hypoallergenic, the wool is evenly distributed amongst the squares, and the cost is EXCELLENT for the value! The only thing I could imagine one wouldn't like is the heaviness of the comforter, but I appreciate a little weight in my blanket... And as others mentioned, there's a slight smell with the comforter (extremely minimal). I got a king size to go with my queen bed (I prefer it to hang down the sides). I also got a great duvet cover to go with it. This is a great purchase!
I am a wool comforter convert. I will no longer buy down comforters. The wool comforter provides all the warmth and coziness of a down comforter without all the dust. Plus the wool comforter stays in place at night. Each qulted sqaure of wool is heavier than the down (although, the overall feel of the comforter is not too heavy) and it moves less. Also, the wool comforter doesn't bunch within the duvet cover like the down comforter so the overall effect is warmer. This wool comforter had no funny smell and I am very sensitive to smells. Say goodbye to down and try wool!
My husband and I love sleeping under this comforter, but it was awfully smelly when it arrived--a potent mix of chemicals and wool. I washed it twice on gentle in my washer and then once very thoroughly in my bathtub after the washing machine wasn't cutting it. After line drying, the smell was sufficiently gone that we felt comfortable using it. I would recommend it to others, but expect to have to wash it prior to use.
I've used the comforter for a few weeks now. It's very comfortable, seems to breathe better than down, so it's more comfortable when I have hot flashes. Haven't experienced the true winter cold yet, so not sure if I'll have to add a blanket. There was an odor (mentioned in other reviews) but it lessened within hours and I didn't notice it at all within a few days. A very good value, and I'm glad I bought it.

- How accurate was the on site description of the product? Very accurate description.
I've always had down comforters, but then layered on a bunch of other blankets to make them feel a little heavier. I traded out the most recent down comforter (which was starting to leak feathers) for this, and I regret not doing it sooner. This is definitely a denser, heavier comforter than down (or faux-down), which makes it quite a bit cozier in my opinion. Other benefits: it doesn't scrunch up at one end of the duvet cover, it doesn't leak feathers, and I don't overheat under it the same way I did with down. A recurring concern in the comments seems to be smell: I took mine out of the package in the morning and left it draped over a couple of chairs for the day, and barely noticed any smell. It does have a little bit of smell, but to me it smells very(!) mildly like a closet full of bedding. If smell is your worry, I'd recommend giving this comforter a try, it's almost certainly going to be fine.
This is a warm comforter...not for the late spring/summer seasons IMHO. Looks to be well-made, and I like that it's wool (so I won't have feathers everywhere like I did w/down comforters!) No noticeable odor. Looking forward to cold weather, because I know it will be toasty under this comforter. ;)

I was looking for a down comforter when I ran across this. I did let it "breathe" for a day or two but I never noticed any overwhelming wool smell that other reviewers talked about. I have to say that this has been a great comforter for the few months I have had it. For Colorado in the winter It has been very WARM - so I wouldn't exactly call it all season. I am usually that person sleeping under a medium warmth down comforter year round even in the southeast coast summers. I wouldn't call this a "heavy" comforter but it does have some heft and the warmth to get you through those cold winter months. I'll use this once the weather tuns cold again here in Colorado but for the summer I will have to go back to my other down comforter.
I love this comforter for 2 reasons. 1) it doesn't bunch up in the duvet cover and maintains a very clean appearance, and 2) it has a nice heft to it. It's not as airy as a down comforter but I prefer a little weight when it comes to covers. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is that it isn't as warm as I thought it would be. Down is warmer. No issues with weird smells as a few other reviews stated and I have a sensitive nose. Smelt slightly like plastic from the packaging but that cleared quite quickly.
I was happy to find a wool filled comforter as it is more sustainable then down and I felt would eliminate the inevitable feathers floating around. The comforter fit perfectly inside my duvet cover and has loops to attach to keep it from moving inside. (my duvet cover is too cheap to have those attachments so am not using them, but thought it a nice feature.) The covering is very sturdy and feels thick for the thread count. I did notice a chemical type smell when I first unwrapped it, probably from the cleaning process - not unlike the foam mattress initial smell. I aired it for about 2 days over a chair and the smell is gone. I've been toasty warm and LOVE it! I do live in LA vs somewhere like Alaska, but am always rather cold and this is the cure!!! It isn't as heavy as I feared from other reviews, weighs about 10#. I love the weight of covers in winter though so again am very satisfied.
I have been using this duvet now for several weeks and am very happy with the product. A previous client had mentioned an odor but my duvet didn't have any smell at all (I took a good whiff close up). I find the weight very comfortable and I like how it settles around me. My previous duvet left "air pockets". I also really like how it looks on the bed. It is very neat and tidy. My husband and I both find that it keeps us comfortable at night. We needed a "down alternative" duvet due to allergies and found our previous polyester duvet too warm. I love this duvet and highly recommend it.
I love this comforter. I cannot use down and hate synthetics. I have been using the silk-filled one from Overstock and it is great but I wanted something a little warmer for the coldest days of winter. This wool one fills the bill. It is very well made and had absolutely no odd smell right out of the container. I do not consider it to be a year-round comforter. I believe it would be too warm in the summer, but that is yet to be seen. I plan to use my silk one for the summer months and the wool one for the winter. I cannot see how anyone could be disappointed by the product.
We have had this on our king sized bed for about 3 months now. Many of those nights were 10 degrees or less and we have no heat in our room. It is way warmer than down. After using down for years I wanted something that did not involve feathers. I went back and forth on wool filled vs alternative down. I must say I made the right decision. We have ours in a duvet cover and it stays wonderfully in place and does not shift. To lift the whole thing when changing sheets I have to say, is very heavy (remember king size) but it is not heavy while sleeping under it. I am a total convert...wool is the way to go. PS. no smell with mine as others have mentioned ( I have a very sensitive nose). I did air dry it outside before use just in case.
So warm - almost too warm! I'm in WI, and it's between 30 and 40 at night. I leave my heat at 60, but with this comforter, I have to open my window and turn on my ceiling fan! I never thought it would be so warm. I had to remove the coverlet that I had planned to use over it, since it was making me overheat. It does "seem" thin, and isn't lofty like a down, so it appears to be not a good value, but once you use it, you realize it is worth it. I honestly LIKE the fact that it's not all poofy like down, and that I don't have feathers everywhere shifting around. Down has its place, but I would say that this was worth every penny, and then some. My only "complaint" is that it isn't machine washable...but, I knew that when I bought it, so I was okay with that choice. If only those Australian sheep grew a machine washable wool coat! ;)
We struggled for almost a year to find temperature comfort after purchasing a very expensive memory foam mattress. I looked high and low on the internet (U.S., England, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Canada) for information on wool and cotton bedding and ordered the cotton sheet set, duvet cover and wool-filled comforter. All of them exceed my expectations! The thickness of the comforter is great. We received it in October when the weather was still warmish and now it is below the teens at night and is still keeping us warm with the temp in the bedroom in the upper 50's, These things, in combination with a fleece wool mattress pad keep a regulated temperature with no more feeling hot on your back and cold on the top. The cover and sheets are perfectly thick, comfortable, NO PILLING and look great. I chose darker sheets and a lighter cover after reading a review that pet hair shows on a dark cover. Both the cover and sheets do wrinkle slightly but is not an issue for me. (My mom still irons her pillow cases, for that unwrinkled look.)
Our old feather duvet began shedding feathers, and I had read that wool duvets would be more comfortable, took a chance, and ordered this one. I am pleased to say, everything I read was right. It is a comfortable weight, doesn't slide down in the cover like the feather one did to my constant annoyance, and I like that it is a bit oversized. It has nice hang over the sides and end of the bed. No looking ilke it's "perched" on top of the bed like some of the feather ones I have had in the past. I also feel like the temperature is more even at night. No sweating on one end and freezing on the other. Am also pleased with the construction. The fabric is a nice silky cotton texture, and feels like good quality. Did not notice any odor that others have mentioned whatsoever, but I did have it spread on the floor for several days after unpacking, while I sewed some new covers for it.
I first found a Wool Comforter in a shop in San Francisco, loved it, and gifted it to a friend when I moved to Europe. Searched for a similar product since returning to US ten years ago and this is the first I found. The Comforter has all the great qualities I remembered. Wonderful construction, weight and comfort for all temps. Beats any Down product I've tried.
I have been happy with down and primaloft comforters purchased from Overstock but decided after reading the reviews to try this wool-filled one. It is a great purchase for the price--good quality, attractive on the bed, lying flatter and neater than the puffier alternatives. My husband loves the comforter, says he prefers the warmth and heavier weight of the wool. We live with colder winter temperatures in the Rockies, but as we have some heat in our bedroom, I find that I still prefer the lighter primaloft. I don't know whether it will shrink or not (hoping to wash on cold and hang dry). I bought the king size for a queen bed with extra deep mattress, as queens are often a bit skimpy, but the king runs large and hangs down almost too far on the sides of our bed, covering at least half the dust ruffle.
There is nothing like the radiant heat that a wool comforter can provide. This one is very well made, soft and nice. I put it in a duvet cover and slept with it first time last night and it was such a big difference how the warmth of this comforter radiated into my whole body. Very comfortable, very cozy and I can see that it truly adjusts to the body temperature so I have a feeling it wont be too hot in the summer. I used to own a down comforter before which always overheated me even in the winter. I love the fluffy feel of it and this comforter isn't as fluffy as down but it's not a heavy feeling like a blanket either. It's just comforting. Looking forward to another good nights rest tonight. p.s. it does have a slight sheep smell but it's ever so slight and for me not disturbing at all, it reminds me of cozy times in the countryside.
