Overall I like this product, but there are a few issues. The first I noticed upon opening- it smelled like a barn yard! I am a very "nature-y" girl, but I dont like my bed to smell like an animal, and this blanket did. I guessed that after washing and airing out it would go away, and it did. The next thing I did not like it that the words "organic cotton" are embroidered all over the entire blanket on both sides. Now that I look very closely at the picture when zoomed in I can just barely see it, but I didnt notice it before. I don't care for my comforter to say what its made of a million times all over the fabric, it looks silly! Also the fabric was not very soft and should have been washed in hot water before being turned into a blanket, but I had to settle for washing on warm in my HE washers "wool cycle" which didnt even get all the fabric wet, and wouldnt spin it dry because it was too heavy. I carried it outside and hung it to dry for 2 days. It still smelled, but I put it on my bed anyway. After a few weeks it has compressed a little so its not so big and fluffy which is nice, the smell is gone, the fabric is slightly softer. I dont see why this says not to wash it at all, that would be impossible around here with the kids, my blanket would be filthy if I couldnt throw it in the wash every now and then!
For years, I would toss and turn all night, both in the winter and the summer because the acrylic comforters would not allow my body to breath. After I saw this, I thought, "What's $350 for a good night's rest?". I decided to doll out the cash for it and am not one bit sorry. I kick off my "pretty" quilt, and sleep with this and some Egyptian cotton sheets and I stay so comfortable all night. No cold or hot spots, no more sweating, no more itching from allergic reactions to acrylic...it's what nature intended to use. Oh yes, if you look here on Overstock.com, you'll find a wool mattress cover. Get this too. I thought it would be really sketchy but you are surrounded by a natural fiber that gives you warmth in the winter and a comfortable sleeping surface in the summer months. I HIGHLY Recommend this Comforter to all. You will NOT be sorry.
I have used down comforters for years, but had a problem with continued 'cold spots'. I was looking for an organic bedding alternative to the down. I decided to peruse the overstock inventory. Must to my chagrin, I came upon this comforter. Not only is it organic, but also made in the beautiful USA! When receiving the organic comforter, it was exactly as described and pictured. I put it into the dryer on air fluff, and then into an organic duvet, protecting it. The first night's sleep was heavenly...even warmth, no perspiring, and also no waking. This might be a solution for many individuals looking for a perfect night's sleep!
Good quality organic wool comforter, I ordered the King size, but was sent the cal King size. I'm not happy that I have to buy a new duvet to fit it because I'm not paying all that shipping back and forth to return it due to someone else's mistake, I'd rather buy a new duvet.
