Safety 1st Easy Fit Adjustable Security Gate

This is a very sturdy gate. The only problem I have with it is that I have a 12 month old toddler that climbs everything. On either side of the gate, she can step up on the bottom and hold on to the top. She has fallen backward so many times, we avoid using it now. It would work well for pets though.

Using it as a pet gate. Be aware that if you have trim around the bottom of your walls, you'll have to raise the gate a few inches. No biggie for me. However, to get it locked or unlocked I feel like I have to man handle the gate. I've literally gotten to he point where I just keep it extended and prop it up. It won't work once my puppy grows a little more but hopefully we just won't need it. Wouldn't recommend, wouldn't buy again.

The gate did the job I needed it to. If I needed it on a constant basis and not only when my grandchildren were over I would want one that was easier to lock into place. For the occasional times I need it, it will be ok.

• Please tell us about the quality of the product. My only problem with the gate was that it was difficult to lock in the open position. I don't know if it was just THIS one, or if it is a design flaw, but we had problems. Once we got it in the locked position, it did keep the young children away from the stairs.
• Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? I don't know if the problem I had was a defect with the one I had or just a design flaw.

Purchased 2 of these gates and was very disappointed in this purchase. I would have definitely returned them both; however the price to send them back was the same as the price of one of the gates so basically I had to keep them. I purchased them to keep my daughter's new puppy from getting to the back bedrooms of the house but did not know they would be so difficult for us to move aside to get passed. My husband said it was also very difficult to tighten the gate in place; the plastic piece used for that was apparently hard to set. It should also be mentioned that the color of the gate in the picture looks white, however the gates we rec'd were beige in color. If you are using a gate in an area you will frequent in and out of, this is definitely not the gate for you. If you are looking for a white gate, this is not the gate for you.
