Construction was not as nice as expected and the packaging looked to be soiled. Where have these been stored and for how long?

My son has been a sock wearer since day one, that is when he keeps them on. I have tried a couple of other types of shoes and slippers and he either rips them off right away or, if he can't get them off, screams until you take them off. He didn't mond these at all, he wore them all day long without touching them. He is a little above average 12 month old and the 12 - 18 month size is a little big on him. He is walking holding onto furniture and didn't have a problem with the size being a little big. I was concerned that they might turn his feet black since he isn't wearing socks with them but they didn't. Thanks Overstock for another great purchase experience!
