High Chairs & Booster Seats

When your baby is about six months old and ready for solid foods, you'll need a high chair for meal times. Some parents like to have a high chair as soon as their baby can sit up so she can join the family during meals, even if it is only to observe and not to actually eat. As with all baby furniture, the most important factor to consider when it comes to high chairs is safety. The next most important factor is the ease of cleaning the high chair, especially when you start feeding her strained peas.
Booster seats are similar to high chairs in that they provide a boost for children who need a little help reaching the table. High chairs are free-standing chairs with long legs and an attached tray. Booster seats are seats that sit on a regular dining chair; they're more appropriate for slightly older children who can sit up without assistance.
Choose a high chair with safety straps to keep your baby securely in place while in her high chair. Safety straps should at least go around your baby's waist and in between her legs. Additional shoulder straps increase the safety of the high chair once your baby is able to stand. A high chair tray should be easy for you to slide in and out, but should be secure enough that it is not easy for your baby to slide it onto the floor. Some high chair trays are fully removable so you can wash them in the sink or even the dishwasher. A high edge on the high chair tray will reduce the number of spills that make it to the floor and keep snacks within reach even when your child is experimenting with tossing snacks for fun.
When your child is a little older, you can switch to a booster seat. A booster seat allows your child to sit with everyone else at the table. She can adjust to being a big kid while still having the boost she needs to reach her food. Booster seats vary in design, but many are available with built-in safety straps. Once your little one is used to the booster seat you can try using one at a restaurant. Many kid-friendly eating establishments have high chairs and booster seats available to borrow when you're there for dinner; choose the one that makes you and your child feel the most secure.

My daughter had this exact highchair on her gift registry at ***, of course I checked on Overstock before I bought from her registry and not only was it *** less, it shipped for free. She loves the highchair and my granddaughter will love it too. Delivery was quick and it was in perfect condition.

  • Great product-poorly packaged

Great product that I believe is more versatile than the Bumpo due to being a bit larger so it will accommodate growing infants for a longer time period and I hope will be able to be used as a booster seat for a toddler. I love that it has a strap to attach it to a chair as well as a strap to secure the infant. My disappointment was with the packaging and condition of the box upon delivery, as I bought it as a gift. It has been re-packaged in a box for a different colored items, so what is inside is not the version shown on the box, and the box was severely damaged. I may actually wrap it without the box for that reason, although am disappointed to do so as it would be helpful to have it for storage.

Jack hated his old highchair. He came to our house for a week and loved this new one- no fussing, no objections, The back is adjustable, the tray is easy to clean, the padding is washable. Later, it converts to a booster chair! I sent him another one to replace the hated high chair! He loves it too! You can't go wrong with this!

  • The chair itself is great! The finish, not so much

LOVE, LOVE this chair. Bought 2 of them a few months back for my two older kiddos who are in between high chair and booster age and it works perfect for them. They each have their own "big girl" chairs at the dinner table set to their proper height. It is even more FABULOUS if you have a 12 mos old too smart for her own good!! Our 12 mo old removes the tray from the other high chair but because this one is "fixed" she can't no matter how hard she tries. Hopefully in a few months, we will be able to push her up to the table like her older sisters. I only gave it 4 stars because the paint ion the chairs is CRAP! (Ooops, can I say that here? UMmmm, I guess awful would be a close description if the above is considered bad.) Well, it is. Seems to chip off with the slightest bump against the table but aside from that, Completely recommend this chair!!
