Cribs

Purchasing baby furniture to outfit the nursery is a big step in getting ready for the arrival of your bundle of joy. When shopping for cribs, make sure to shop Overstock.com for the lowest prices on the baby furniture you have to have.
Baby cribs are the centerpiece of many stylish nurseries. You can choose from convertible cribs, cribs with built-in diaper storage, cribs in different colors and even sleigh-style cribs. Convertible crib baby furniture is designed to last beyond infancy. As your baby grows, the crib converts to a toddler or twin bed; sometimes they convert all the way to a day bed. When purchasing a convertible crib, you want to make sure it's a style you like because you'll be seeing it for years to come. Cribs with built-in drawers are a fabulous update but may be too bulky for your nursery, so be sure to measure before committing to an oversized piece of baby furniture. Wooden cribs are available in all the colors you can get for other wooden furniture, so it's easy to match your baby's crib to the other furniture you've chosen for the nursery. If you opt for a metal crib, confirm that all the edges are rounded so there are no unexpected injuries.
Cribs are now required to have slats set no more than 2 3/8 inches apart. If you plan to use a hand-me-down crib, make sure it complies with current safety guidelines before using it as a bed for your baby. Other safety issues center on drop-side cribs. Drop-side cribs are cribs on which one or more of the sides drop down to allow easier access to the baby inside. While this is a convenient feature, these cribs are being reviewed and many organizations recommend staying away from this style until further investigation is completed.
Portable cribs are becoming more popular. It's now possible to take your crib from room to room and even from house to house! If packing up a crib sounds too hard, consider buying two; storing a spare crib at grandma's house insures your baby has a familiar place to sleep when you go to visit.
Staying at home to shop for baby furniture on Overstock.com saves time and money. Your family will thank you for it.

  • Truly the Best Compact Crib, Ever!

    Mar 14, 2013

    marni4455  from IL, Rating:5.0

I do not own this crib, but have rented it for a great-nephew. It is "Da Bomb"! Loved it. So easy to put in and out of the trunk. Ridiculously easy to assemble. It even rolls through doorways! Fits nicely in a closet. I see complaints about the mattress, but it is so superior to what a pack & play has to offer. AND, it's a portable crib, for heaven's sake!! These retail for over $500. I have contacted the company and also tried to buy it from the rental company. I wish I could afford to have my own, but with only one grandchild 500 miles away, it's just not a good investment.

This crib is so awesome! Selling points include four sturdy metal wheels with two locking. Clear plexi glass ends to view the child. Drop down rail for ease on the back. Quality made. This is not a cheapy, light weight crib. And what a value for the money. We shopped on line and in retail stores. This was the best for the money.

  • Solid compact folding crib

The Foundations compact folding crib is a solid, compact crib. I shopped other portable cribs at major chain stores and this crib is much more solid and well put together. Easy to put together and fold up. Much better to use this portable crib as opposed to a pack n' play.

This is a great crib for us, being grandparents we did not want to have a crib up all the time. This was does close up and you can store under the bed or a closet. There are not many parts to put it together, however, it was a little difficult. I originally thought I could do it...No, I had to ask a neighbor for help. Standard sheets do not fit it. I bought the ones called play yard sheets at target and they fit great. Something else to consider because it is smaller than a standard crib, you can't find any bumper pads to fit it. All in all I like it.
