This seat is basic as far as car seats go, but it still does a good job. It is one of the few convertible (rear and fwd facing) car seats on the market that will fit a newborn well, due to the low (7.5") bottom harness slots. The top slots are only 15", so most average size kids will outgrow this seat before they are 4yrs old, sometimes before they are 40lbs, which is the weight limit for the seat. We used this seat for my son and one of the things I really loved about it was that it was lightweight and easy to travel with. It was also easy to install on airplanes. One minor complaint, when using this seat in rear facing mode, one almost always has to used a tightly rolled towel, or piece of pool noodle in the crease of the vehicle seat to get the proper recline. If you are looking for an inexpensive car seat for your growing baby or toddler, then I would recommend this one. This car seat goes from 5-35lbs rear facing, 22-40lbs fwd facing, and has a 32" minimum for forward facing as well. Please research extended rear facing, it is 5x safer than fwd facing. :-)
