Great Value

rac479 from Boston, MA, Nov 16, 2009

This was the 2nd highest rated product on consumer reports, and amazingly the least expensive! Clearly a good value. Rear facing installation is a little odd but our daughter fits great in the seat so we're happy.

It's a great seat for the value! Easy to install and clean. No bells and whistles.

Some assembly required

mom4423 from Cincinnati, OH, Aug 4, 2009

We couldn't figure out how to install this in our vehicle. We took it to the fire station for assistance and they told us we needed something to prop up the front when in the rear facing position. There is a leveling line on the side of the car seat and there is no way to get the car seat to level without something to prop it up on. We used a foam pool floaty under the front leg. There should be instructions to indicate this in the manual but there aren't.

I think this is a good car seat for the price. I actually just purchased another one for another vehicle.

Great Car Seat Without The Great Price Tag

gramma21 from Miami, FL, Jun 25, 2009

This car seat is wonderful. I purchased it for my 1-yr old granddaughter. In these tough times, I was looking and researching for a car seat that could serve its purpose without costing a lot of money. Overall, it's significantly less expensive than the higher-priced models. The instructions were easy enough to read to install the seat rather quickly. To help make it less immobile, I used one of those car seat savers that you place the car/convertible/booster seat on to help prevent indentations/damage to leather seats and/or prevent little shoes from dirtying up the seat. What's different is that you can install 1 of 2 ways: normal, straight up way or in a reclined position. The color is perfect when she gets bigger and she may want to have a snack during the car ride but the snack may not quite make it or stay in her mouth. The fabric seems easy enough to clean and for it being in a dark car, it doesn't get too terribly hot (of course, using a sun shade to prevent even higher temperatures). The only con is that there is not as much cushioning as I would have hoped. I guess that may be the only major difference with one of those more expensive models, they tend to have more. But you would have to consider how frequently you would be travelling long distances or be stuck in traffic with your little one for the amount of cushioning to be a dealbreaker.I'm not sure why parents would spend literally hundreds of dollars for a model that a handful of people say it's great when the Scenera is just as adequate. It offers the same safety features, capability of adjusting the straps for different heights, and of course the infamous cup holder. Unless those more expensive models play music, read stories and whip out snacks, the Scenera is a great choice!
