Metal, powder white in color. Does extend to the max noted. Bought to keep the dogs out of the living room. Would recommend this item.

The gate is simple, clean and blends in beautifully with our white trim. Very unobtrusive. However, we took every extension out and the gate didn't fit our regular door :(

I have a dining room that I need to keep our dog from entering. I had used white plastic gates that I would have to "hurdle" over each time I wanted to go in. The white gates looked "tacky". Now, I can easily open the gate door and pass through and they look so nice!

good gate but my jack russell mix was able to figure out how to get in thru the sides :( Easy fix with a trip to the Home Depot but would have preferred for product to be all-inclusive. used white lattice cut to size to make it esthetically pleasing

This is our second gate ordered and the first one was black.. We love the quality and the ease of installing the gate. A friend loved ours gave them overstock.com and they also ordered one in white. Great Buy!!! We both use the gates for our dogs!!

Perfect gate for a home with steep stairs - 12 steps. White color goes well with any colored wall. Steel gate will hold up better than wood and easier to clean. We bought two gates, one for the bottom step and another for the top, works well for the safety of our granddaughter, as well as for our dog and cat.

I purchased it to keep my dogs out of the back hallway and bedrooms. Works very nicely. I don't need all the safety features but if you have small children they are excellent. Easy to install. I wanted a white gate for inside the house. I have a black gate on the outside so the dogs can't run out when the front door is opened. Very easy to use coming and going. It was exactly what I wanted. Looks good too. Fits in with all the white trim work in the house.

We are using the gate on the front porch for dogs. Spans large opening nicely and is secure. The 2 boxers (around 60 pounds each) just need a barrier and do not try to knock it over or jump on it, but it is not wobbly. I don't think I would want a kid hanging on it or trying to knock it over The doorway is convenient. White metal looks nice with the white of the porch railing. I am using only tension to keep it in place - you can screw included hardware to the walls for extra security, but I do not want holes in the siding. I am very pleased with this purchase and may get another for a large opening inside.

These gates are a bit tricky to install - won't lie. However, once we figured it out - good to go! Our stairs are a bit wider then all of the 42' gates so we had to order this one. I wish it was colored white or tan and not just this nude wood color, but thats just me and wanting to match my entire house colors :) The gate is easy for adults to get in and out of. The gate is long enough to cover our stairs that are 44' across. I like the way these gate also retracts in while not in use. Overall good buy, our daughter is not old enough yet to start pulling on it - I am hoping with a name like Evenflo this gate will hold up to her pulling on it very soon. From my pulling on it - I think its going to do the job well. We have one at the bottom of the stairs and one at the top.

Installed in about 20 minutes. It does exactly what it says it does. I like the auto-lock feature. This gate is replacing a wooden pressure gate that we use to keep the dog contained on our front deck with wrought iron railings. We priced out wrought iron gates, and they wanted $400. This was a great alternative at a fraction of the cost. The white matches our existing railings. Overstock had the best price ($15 less than anyone else) and of course the $2.95 shipping is unbeatable. It took less than a week for delivery. 5 stars from me.

Purchased this gate to keep the dogs out of the basement while we're re-doing it and to carry groceries in and out without have to shut the outside door. It's easy to use, tall enough to discourage my (small) dogs from jumping over it (though I'm sure they could if they wanted to) and very sturdy. The rubber ends are really nice and prevent it from marring the wall. The white matches the house and it's very easy to adjust. I haven't had to use the "extra" pieces of the gate that make it extra-wide, so I can't speak to those, but the fact that it can be extended up to another 2 feet is a nice feature. Very happy!

I ordered this gate as my fifteen-year old dog had taken to using the dining room as her toilet so I needed a gate to keep her in a certain part of the house when I wasn't home. I am very pleased with it! It came with two 'add-ons' to allow it to fit in a wider space and I wound up needing the larger one. It was easy to assemble and to set up. I needed to take it with me this past weekend as I spent 4 days with the little one I nanny. I took my dog with me and didn't want to worry about her having an accident in a carpeted area. It was easy to take down, put in the car and put back up in the other house. The only thing I'd change would be to have the door open both ways and to have the safety catch be white instead of red. I do llike the fact that the opening lever can lie on top of the safety latch making it so the latch doesn't have to be used every time, which is great with my dog but with an exploring toddler it would probably need to be used regularly as my 21-month old charge figured out how to lift the lever and open the door. Those two changes are minor considering how well the gate fits my needs!

The gate was simple and suits its purpose. Nothing fancy. We have it expanded almost all the way and its shakable and needs to be tightened every once in a while. If your looking for a cheap but functioning gate, this will work.
