There is a plastic peg in the end of lever/latch mechanism on the quiet the locking of the gate. It fell out and my wife pulled it out of our daughter’s mouth, thank goodness. This piece could be a deadly chocking object! I will be removing the peg from the other ones I own, which are only to quiet the latch…could be a deadly silence watch out! Other than that - they are great, we got lucky - If you own one, I would recommend removing the peg with pliers

We ordered two of these gates to child-proof our home for our grandson. We were very impressed with the quality of the product (they are actually welded!) and with the ease of installation. Take the time to read the instructions and correctly adjust the latch. The gate can only be opened after unlocking the latch mechanism at the top and lifting the gate so that the bottom pin comes out of its retainer. This means that there are TWO devices securing the gate. Even if a clever child were able to release the latch, they would have to lift the gate to get it open. The gate is still very sturdy when only the bottom is latched. These gates are also much more attractive than the old plastic or wooden gates that were available when our children were young. We think they are well worth the price!

For the money, this is a great temporary gate for a small pet, small puppy, or small child. It is easy to undo for walk through, however even with a small pet who starts teething, the dog would rip up the plastic mesh, it is not metal. Works great as a temporary barrier.

This is a plastic "baby jail" or play pen that is one of the more economy versions out there...so you get what you pay for. With that said, it is a very good play yard and does its job. The only gripes are that it is a bit awkward to move around when closed and that the pieces require some force to unfold. I constantly think I am going to be breaking it when I try to reposition a side. Also, there is no "gate" so entry and exit requires you to pull apart the play pen. This is not a big deal for me as I leave it open while I am in the room with my child (about 90% of the time) and only close when needed.

Would've preferred to have a hard plastic, but cannot find one. This will do but don't know how long it will last.

I bought this gate to keep a pupppy from entering certain areas of the house. the mesh is made of plastic and he ate it. Probably good for babies, not pets.

I bought this one and a much heavier Plastic Gate. The wooden one looks better, is lighter to handlle and is easier to operate. I am very pleased with this purchased and have bought 3 more.

I bought this as a dog door. It is really flimsy, short, and difficult to get to fit into the door. The plastic "wall" is also really flimsy. In short, don't waste your time on this.

This gate is not one of those heavy duty and thick plastic gates. Just bought TWO Morties and they are able to see thru but not move it in any way. Plus, it is not bulky looking but secure enough to keep the babaies safe...

This gate is well made with steel bars and braces, It is easy to install - you can friction fit it if you don't need a lot of strength, but I used the plastic braces screwed into the door way for the top only to give it more strength - one screw for each side, and the rubber friction feet fit into the braces, keeping them from sliding. The height makes it a better gate for my large puppies. I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that the easy-to-use door lock is plastic, and the gate is a little narrow. An adult would have to go through the gate sideways, especially if carrying anything.

I have a dining room that I need to keep our dog from entering. I had used white plastic gates that I would have to "hurdle" over each time I wanted to go in. The white gates looked "tacky". Now, I can easily open the gate door and pass through and they look so nice!

I got this for my little dog, and the best gate I could find at any cost. Easy to set up and customize the size width. The ones for the pets’ stores were plastic or the metal ones to big. This will keep him out a room I just had wood floors put in and I can get through the gate to enjoy my new room.

Even after removing the extensions, I don't really feel safe using this gate. I hope they are not all made like this one. I was really excited to get the gate, I currently have a plastic one you have to hop over. I thought I'd use this in another location freeing up some more space for my new walker. Not going to happen.:(

I have a wide arched doorway and have used other pressure mount gates before but we would have to climb over them. I love this gate for the ease of opening it and how sturdy it is. I have two Rottweilers and a Pit Bull and it holds up even to their weight against it. I did use the four plastic pieces that screw into the wall and it is great.

This is a high quality gate. We bought it for my son because the gates we had for my daughter were all plastic & broke within a few months. The Stairway Special Gate is all metal and has a sturdy locking mechanism. My 3yr old has a litte trouble opening the latch but the gate is sturdy and reliable. We bought this gate instead of other metal or wooden gates because there's no bar accross the bottom that could be a tripping hazard at the top of the stairs. I would recommend this gate.

Pros - Arrived on time; easy to install; good quality construction; easy to use Cons - The construction of the "latching" mechanism was such that you could push the gate open, but you could pull it open (even when it was locked). Rather then send it back, I made a simple fix by inserting a piece of plastic in the "latching" mechanism which prevented it from being pulled or pushed open.

This product is as described. It's not exciting, it's a baby gate. It consists of two horizontal tension rods connected by two vertical plastic rods, and a mesh screen. Nothing exciting. I bought it to keep a 7 pound dog contained. It would work for an infant but I sure wouldn't use it for a toddler with any strength.

This is our 3rd gate since having our children. The first gate was alright, but that was only good for our first boy. (He's the calm one) The 2nd boy is a dare devil. He broke the first gate just by pulling and haging on it at the age of 8 months. This gate was made of plastic. The 2nd gate was a to diffecult to open with one hand so you had the put down everything just to open it. This gate is easy to open and made of metal. My kids now at the age of 3, 2, and and 8 months, They hang on the gate and try to open the gate and the gate is still like new. I just bought another one for the bottem of the stairs, since that gate just broke.

I needed gate to partition our Whippet puppy from the rest of the house. And I didn't want plastic or metal gate. this is perfect, it's wood and looks like our furniture. I didn't need to bolt it to the all since it is set up in the hall way, but it is very sturdy, Right after I set it up (easy by the way) I forgot it was there and I walked into it. Needless to say it didn't move (I weight 110 lbs) I almost went over the gate. I caught myself, but the gate stood it's ground.

This is a decent little gate. Prior to purchasing this, I had a rather expensive decorative gate in the area I had gated off to prevent my dogs from going into the bedroom areas. But after 4 years and a lot of slamming it when my husband and I got mad at each other (lol), it finally broke. I wouldn't dare slam this gate. I feel that you have to be gentle with it because of the plastic open/close handle that feels as though it would snap right off if you were too rough with it. It's fairly decent looking and for the price, I'd say it's worth it if you don't care about decorative value because it is rather plain looking. But all and all, I'd say it's a decent gate for a decent price.
