The Frame was in good shape, but the clay for the molding was as hard as a rock and wasn't even usable even after soaking in water

I think my frame was very old- the clay was just balled up and wouldn't stick together at all. I was kneeding it for over 30 minutes without it adhereing and forming clay that could be rolled out. Finally I added water and the clay held together. After 30 more minutes of kneeding it was smooth enough to roll out. I rolled it out to the dimensions I thought were right and we printed my baby. I let it dry as instructed and now have no way of getting it into the frame! The back of the frame for the side the prints go into is nailed on. You need to either put the clay into the frame and roll it (but I don't know if the backing counts as non-porous as the instructions call for, or you need to have a smaller area of clay than the frame so you can glue it in. The instructions are so vague (3 lines on the outside of the box) that it's difficult to do this right the first time. Live and learn I guess- I have the prints and will have my husband custom make a frame. The pine frame of this is blackened and not as pretty as I had hoped for.
