Ordered a futon set and after only 5 months the frame broke. Purchased Accidental Plan and after 3 weeks they sent out a tech. Tech told me they will send replacement parts and after 2 weeks got call from Guardsman letting me that they will refund the $47+ but not the parts. So now I spent 350.00 and have a broken frame and only getting back the cost of the plan!
So disappointed in this coverage. We purchases a leather sectional and have 2 children so buying a protection plan just seemed smart. Looks like they would find a way for nothing to be covered.
The worst thing about having a Accidental Damage Plan is not being able to use it when accidents occur. A waste of 49 bucks! Save your money.
Doesn't cover anything important like the mechanical insides of your furniture. Instead, they refund you the cost of the plan when something goes wrong.
For what you're paying for, you may as well get extra insurance on your furniture items through your existing home or renter's insurance policy. I had to send in multiple pictures and wait for weeks before my issues were finally resolved, during which time I could have purchased from Amazon and had my products much sooner. There are so many issues with the table I bought last year that I am not sure whether it is worth the headache of going rounds with customer service to get my hazardous chairs replaced, or whether I should purchase another set of chairs entirely.
Purchased furniture protection plan. A few years into owning the couch, the reclining mechanism on my couch breaks. I fill out the paperwork, sign, scan and submit along with required digital phots of the reproted damage. I get a call a week or two later to set up an appointment. The next appointment is about a month out. I'm not in a particular hurry, so, no big deal. The technician comes out and spends less than 5 minutes on my property. He takes the exact same pictures of the damaged mechanism that I submitted originally. He tells me they'll have to order the part. He could have saved the trip if he'd looked at what I submitted. Then, I get an email from Gaurdsman to call them. I call and am informed that they cannot repair the couch and will be refunding my purchase price of the damage plan. This is completely ridiculous. If you DO NOT need to fix your couch, the plan works fine and they keep your $$ bucks. If you ACTUALLY need to use them, they sends someone out who takes a picture and they refund what you paid. If you ask me, this is a total racket. If I purchase auto insurance and get into an accident, my insurance company doesn't refund my last month's insurance payment and tells me they can't cover the cost of repair. The whole purpose of this plan is IF something happens. Well, something happens and they left me twisting in the wind. I actually can't believe ANYONE would rate this company with more than one star. Total scam.
I bought this protection plan for a sectional I bought through overclock.com. When I had a rip they told me they couldn't repair it because I was two days late in reported it. My pull cord broke and since they had to order a part they couldn't repair it. My recliner had came of track and they couldn't repair that either. This is *. Don't not buy this is a warning! !!!
I had a sectional delivered to my home and it came with an imperfection on one of the cushions, was advised by Overstock to contact the Accidental Damage Plan provider. I filled out a bunch of papers along with pictures and after several days gone by, I had to contact them because I didn't hear back from them. I was told by a representative that they don't cover items shipped damaged. All that time wasted ! So BEWARE, any thing shipped to your home and is damaged or flawed return it immediately!
You should always buy this accidental plan, you just never know.
A warranty is only of value if the company that backs it is an upstanding and accountable establishment. Overstock should be embarrassed to be associated with a company like ****. I will rethink any future dealings with Overstock because of this experience and I, like most people, buy almost everything online. When you speak with the **** phone operator, be sure that you read the warranty first, my first mistake. Make sure your story fits within the finite details of the warranty, and does not stray from of their rules. Do not tell them that you assume anything, or they will use that as an excuse to not follow through with their commitment. Also, no matter what timeline the damage happened, always tell them it happened TODAY. I unfortunately made my claim 7 days after the damage happened, not the required 5 days, so they were "sorry, they could not help me". I tried to revise my story, since I was upset and disgusted, but apparently my hand was on the virtual bible as they took my sworn testimony. Good Luck surviving with a business attitude like that.
