My name is Kadek Suarjaya, I come from Bali Indonesia, I was raised in a poor village in Batukaras, my father used to be an artisan and he was rarely around when I was growing up, he was always traveling to Bali looking for work, his goal was to make sure that I would go to college and earn a degree. He didn't want me to live like him, but I always admired his work. I watched him occasionally make handcrafts--mainly jewelry, so my passion for this field was in me all along. (Like father, like son.)
Besides my father who happens to be my main source of inspiration, my mother and both my sisters are big inspirations. They are very creative and talented seamstresses. They spent all their time cross-stitching. They were amazing and their work proved it. My ideas, I would say, are a mixture of both my parents' skills.
My main goal is to increase the number of artisans that work in the company. I recently hired 2 artisans who were affected by the Tsunami disaster, and they found refuge here in Bali. My other goal is to teach my young son the jewelry making skills and make sure that he will continue the same journey when he takes over the company.
