I would heavily advise anyone considering a warranty on a mattress to avoid it big time. The warranty is fulfilled through Guardsman who in many respects isn't a bad company however the experience they provide is terrible. After purchasing their warranty and actually having an issue, (pet urine stain), I opened a case online like they advice. I send in multiple images of the stain and explained the issue. I followed their requirements of sending in the service request within 72 hours of the issue and even had a copy of the service order I created online. The system tell you they will get back to you in a few weeks... Which although that is a long time they never did; so I called them directly only to find out they required additional paperwork for whatever reason. I submitted that information to the company and about a week later a Guardsmen service rep showed up at my house. He looked at the mattress and stated he will be submitting his pictures of this issue to the warranty company and they will just replace the mattress because since 3 weeks passed they have been "stale." about 7 days later I get a letter in the mail stating they will not cover this as it does not meet the guidelines of their warranty. I called in again and talked to a very nice rep, but, never the less I expressed how unfair this entire ordeal is as it clearly states in the warranty guide that not only would pet stains be covered that even human bodily fluid would be cover so why are they not replacing the mattress. She actually agreed and stated she doesn't know but will escalate this to a case manager. about 3 days later the manager didn't even have the professionalism to call me but that very same rep called me back and apologized but the manger deems that this isn't covered even though they advertise that it should be.... She did say that the manager "approved" providing me a pro-rated refund for my warranty which I almost laughed at because it's not something they can decline or approve it's the law in the state I live in.... So basically they got about $20 out of me and wasted my time in order to say sorry your out of luck we just don't have to cover this even know we advertise that we will. Don't waste your money or time with these guys, they are a joke. Please keep in mind I purchase warranties on almost everything I buy and sure I don't use them all but the ones I do I normal have good experiences with and will even write reviews expressing that. These guys are a borderline scam and just are a complete waste of your money don't do it! -Scott
When I bought this mattress service plan it was because I was ordering a mattress and during the checkout process it gave me the opportunity to select a ten year warranty. However, the things covered under this mattress plan are only minor spills, tears, or stains. Even then, they're only covered if you use the required mattress protector that the company provides you with. I mark this so low because I was under the impression that it would cover my mattress if something happened like a body "hole" in the middle, which it does not, and for the price you're probably better off just purchasing the $10 cover instead of the warranty.
Like others have stated, this warranty is a joke. You would be better served keeping your money and investing in junk bonds. I have not had to use it, but I received my warranty yesterday and starting reading the fine print. Essentially this warranty covers someone coming to my home to tell me that its covered/not-covered in a not-so-timely fashion according to others, so I can then be refunded the price of (PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS), the Warranty, not the Mattress at a pro-rated rate. I will be returning this warranty for a refund ASAP. This is the fine print from the actual warranty: "If you submit a covered claim for a stain or damage that Guardsman is unable to repair, Guardsman will give you a refund of the original purchase price of this Service Plan which will complete your coverage under this Service Plan." So if I had a problem at year 2 of my 10 year warranty, they could pay me a pro-rated fee to end the warranty and now I am out of 8 years of warranty which I thought I was buying in the first place. This entire warranty smells bad to me.
So I bought this mattress protection plan thinking that it was some sort of service plan that would fix or repair any damage or stains and that if the mattress could not be fixed then a new one would be provided. Sounded too good to be true but I gave it a shot. I didn't realize that this "Protection plan" required the use of a mattress pad provided by Guardsman. Not that I have a problem with the pad they provided, it just would have been nice to know so that I didn't purchase ANOTHER mattress pad to protect the mattress. I actually thought that I had accidentally purchased 2 mattress pads since I'd spent a while researching and browsing through different choices. I wasn't until I checked my order history and started looking through my order that I realized what the "Protection Plan" really was. It's really just a mattress pad that is backed by a company named Guardsman, that promises to keep your mattress safe and clean or they'll send someone out to repair it. Actually, first they'll send you a kit and tell you to do it yourself, then they'll send someone out. Then if that person can't fix it, they'll refund you the money you spent on the service plan, which I bought for $50. So it wasn't that it was too good to be true, it was just that I had mis-read the description which may or may not have been written or phrased in a way that could be considered by some to be mis-leading. But wait.... Maybe that isn't the case. Maybe I did see it written down somewhere that Guardsman would replace my mattress.... I thought I had read that in the description of the product, but when I went back to check it was nowhere to be found. So I went to gather the packing materials and mattress pad to return to Overstock for a refund and I read over the packaging once more. There it was written right on the paper insert that came with the mattress pad. The following is taken directly off the packaging as I sit here typing this review. I would attach a picture if I could. "When you purchase a Guardsman ComfortMark II Mattress Protector with a new mattress, your purchase also qualifies for a Guardsman 10 Year Mattress Protection Plan (sold separately). The plan provides additional protection against stains caused by food or beverage, human or pet bodily fluids, and ballpoint ink caused by specific incident. In addition, Guardsman will repair any puncture, cut, tear, rip, or burn caused by a specific incident. If the stain or damage cannot be removed or repaired, Guardsman will replace your mattress at no cost to you. Ask your mattress retailer for information on the availability of a mattress Protection Plan for your mattress." Ok, so wait. They will replace my mattress, but only if I purchase the mattress pad AND a Protection Plan? So since I just bought a Protection Plan that came with a free mattress pad, I don't qualify for a mattress replacement, just a refund of the cost of the protection plan? This is so confusing, misleading, and downright mixed up and cross-wired that my head is spinning. I love Overstock and am a big fan of Patrick Byrne. After my personal experience and reading the review of other who have purchased this, I think that by selling this "Protection Plan", Overstock diminished their reputation and reduces the level of trust I have in them as a company that they are acting in an open, honest, and transparent fashion. I'm not sure Overstock's reputation is worth the $50 they made off me by selling this plan. I would love to get some sort of explanation as to what's up with this. I would also love to see this product no longer being sold in such a misleading fashion. Seriously, just sell a mattress pad for the same price like everyone else.
I was thinking a protection plan would be just what it sounds like however all you really get it a mattress cover and if you don't use it well then your kinda screwed. Don't be fooled into thinking if something goes wrong you are covered it's just a MATTRESS COVER.
Great Product and Speechless as for the Comfort and Affordability.
What's worse than an unexpected disaster happening with a new purchase? Not being covered and having to come up with solutions all alone. Protect your investment and your piece of mind.
I bought my memory foam mattress and the 10 year Mattress Service Protection Plan the same time on OVERSTOCK, but the Mattress Protection was delivered a Month later...
I would def recmmend. Product is great. Material is nice
Haven't read the fine print yet because I've only had the mattress for a few weeks now. It was a cheap plan and insuring me that I will be satisfied for the next 10 years.
